Gratitude Letter | #13 Bucket List | Ann Varney
I write gratitude letters to everyone else. Today I wrote one to myself. If you’re a natural giver who gives everything to others and nothing to yourself, this one’s for you.

FIRST BLOG POST | A LETTER THROUGH TIME
Yes… I Did All 100.
‘What a fricken ride that was”
And before you roll your eyes and say, “Alright then, Oracle Woman…” let me just tell you:
You were right to write the list. You were right to decide.
Because I’m sitting here now, looking out at the sea from my paradise home, the one with the open doors, the long table, the laughter, the dogs padding about like they own the place (because they do), and I’m smiling so hard my face hurts.
Not because life was perfect. Because it was lived.
Because it was lived.
And yes… I did it. All 100. Every single one. I ticked them off. And I loved every minute of it.
(Well, mostly. There were moments I questioned my own sanity, especially the motorcycle, and that “do something that scares the shit out of me” line. Honestly, who wrote that? Oh. You did. EEEEKKK!!!).
Because no one knows how long they have. We all die. That isn’t dark, it’s clarifying.
And back then, when I was 57, I realised something simple and life-changing:
I had a choice.
I could drift through the next 30+ years reacting to life… or I could design the life I wanted to live.
So I wrote a list. Not a “maybe one day” list. A declaration list. A blueprint for the rest of my life. A living vow that I would not arrive at the end thinking, “I wish I had…“
I wanted to arrive saying, “What a fricken ride that was.” And darling… I did.
I was travelling the world on my own. Building TOC, The Oracle Code ecosystem, with fire in my belly and truth in my throat. I craved a base, not because I wanted to stop moving, but because I wanted a lighthouse to return to.
I wanted a sea-view home where everyone felt welcome. Grandchildren running barefoot through the rooms. Deep soul-sister friendships that weren’t about business. A kind, generous man who made me laugh until I snorted. Wealth that felt clean in my body. A school built in a community that deserved more. Dogs on the beach, sunrise swims, long-table dinners, and a life that tasted good.
And I wasn’t willing to leave it to chance. So I decided.
Everything changed once I wrote it down. Because it wasn’t just a list. It was a frequency. A standard. A contract with life.
One by one, it unfolded. The Oracle Code became what I always knew it could become. The retreats happened. The schools got built. The scholarships multiplied. The women rose. The money arrived, and my nervous system didn’t collapse this time. The love arrived, not drama, not chaos… just warmth, humour, and devotion. The sisterhood deepened. The art exploded into colour and meaning. The grandchildren came, and my heart cracked open in the best way. And yes… I danced. I danced a lot.
I didn’t live smaller as I got older.
I lived truer.

I have watched my legacy become real in the hands of others. I have been proud of my sons. I have loved my grandchildren with a kind of love that makes everything else look small.
And when the day comes that I do step through those pearly gates… I won’t be whispering regrets.
I’ll be sliding in, grinning, saying:
THIS IS YOUR REMINDER:
You don’t need certainty. You need decision.
Start ticking them off, one at a time. Write a blog after each one. Celebrate like it matters, because it does.
Because this life? It goes quickly.
So live it loudly. Live it deeply. Live it on purpose.
And I’ll see you on the terrace at sunset.
This is post one. There will be 100 more.
One experience at a time. One story at a time.
Watch this space.
P.S. The day you wrote this list, you almost didn’t. You thought, who am I to want this much? And that thought? That’s the only thing that ever stood between you and all of it. Not time. Not money. Not circumstance. Just that one small, lying thought. So here’s my question to you, reading this right now: What are you almost not writing down today?
